I recently had a fantastic opportunity to visit the world's largest wetland with my favorite British tour company, Birdseekers.  Highlights included Harpy Eagle, Hyacinth Macaw, and some 300 other species including 151 life birds.  Greater Rhea (South America's equivalent to the Ostrich) , Mato Grosso Antbird, Planalto Slaty-Antshrike (a recently split Pantanal specialty), Helmeted Manakin, Flavescent Warbler, Guira Tanager, Burnished-buff Tanager, Coal-crested Finch, Undulated Tinamou, Sunbittern, and Sungrebe were among the many species seen. In addition, there were close encounters with Giant Otters, a Yellow Anaconda, Marmosets, Capuchin monkeys and Piranhas. Below are some pictorial highlights.  Click on a picture to see a larger version and watch for an announcement of a Sunrise Birding trip to Brazil !
